Ah, prom night. That time of the year when juniors and seniors get to dress up in fancy outfits and dance the night away. But in the world of entertainment, things hardly ever go as planned. Sometimes drama ensues, be it due to revenge or just getting dumped and humiliated at the worst possible time of the year. OR your work just follows you wherever you go. So brace yourself and buckle up for this wild ride in this list of movie and TV proms where things went horribly wrong.\r \r 1. Carrie (1976)\r \r What good would this list of disastrous proms be without the infamous Carrie. To be fair, they all had it coming, seeing that she was the butt of everyone’s jokes. Though what they didn’t know was that all this unwarranted stress and bullying led to her unlocking her amazing and terrifying telekinesis skills which she unfortunately unleashed at the worst possible time. Poor Carrie, in a fit of rage, finally let it all out when her biggest bullies crossed the line, turning what should have been a memorable night for this outcast girl into one that no one would ever forget.\r \r 2. Grosse Pointe Blank (1997)\r \r Well this one is more of a ten-year reunion where the good old days were relived in the form of a throwback prom night. Our main character Martin Blank, at first hesitant to attend, decides to follow through with his high school sweetheart Debi tagging along as his date. Unfortunately for the two, Martin’s not-so-moral job ruined the celebrations, leading to a temporary rift in the love birds’ rekindling, though they did manage to work things out in the end.\r \r 3. Prom Night (1980)\r \r As everyone is preparing themselves for a night full of fun and entertainment, a masked assailant is stalking the halls of a high school, out for revenge. The plot is pretty simple, the attacker witnesses the accidental death of a family member, and uses this unbearable hurt and pain as fuel to take out those responsible. Without spoiling things, let’s just say that those involved got what was coming to them, even if they were only 11-year-olds when they made a pact to keep their awful misdeed a secret.\r \r 4. Never Been Kissed (1999)\r \r Josie (Drew Barrymore) was your stereotypical nerd loner who never fit in with the cool kids. During her undercover assignment as a highschool student, Josie was thrown back into the life she never wished to return to, which led to her recalling that painful prom prank. It all started when she read a romantic poem aloud in class to her high school crush, Billy Prince, who later asked her out to the prom. Instead, he showed up with another girl, and the two hurled eggs at Josie at her porch as she cried her eyes out in pain.\r \r 5. Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992)\r \r In season 3, episode 20, while the students of Sunnydale High were already glammed up and dancing the night away, Buffy got a bit sidetracked by a trio of hellhounds that were released by a student named Tucker with the goal of ruining prom night for everyone. But being the formidable slayer that she is, she managed to get rid of the potential party crashers then slip on her pretty pink dress before receiving a special award from her classmates as the “Class Protector.”
